Girls v Southern Surrey Belles

This was the team's first home fixture and to give credit where it is due they all tried hard. The game contained many errors but referee Richard Sheppard managed to keep it flowing well with a sound interpretation of the laws.

Both teams fielded eleven players having a six girl pack and five backs; each half was of twenty minutes duration and contained a great deal of good end to end play.

H&B took the lead after Amelia made a good break and released the ball to Holly who converted her own try. On the stroke of half time the Belles scored an unconverted try after the scrum half ran half the length of the pitch to touch down out wide.

The visitors took the lead with a converted try after ten minutes of the second half. An injury to Frankie left H&B with ten players but they managed to score an equalising try by Jasmine who broke away from a ruck and left the defence trailing behind her. However being a player down meant the opposition had much more room and they scored a good try. One of their more mobile players made a well supported break, she passed the ball to Jorja White who scored under the posts for Elizabeth Leonard to convert.

Almost on the final whistle H&B scored a try and had the opportunity to force a draw; unfortunately Amelia was unable to convert her own try.

The H&B coaches Bob Meager, Alan Duggan and Keith Pattison were pleased with their teams performance.
