Due to a number of injuries, Hastings were unable to enter two full teams as planned, but Noah, Buster and Riley played in a development game with players from Haywards Heath and Lewes. They did not end up on the winning side, however Riley bustled over to score their try.
The main squad played a number of well established teams including Bognor Regis, Haywards Heath, Brighton and Horsham. The early loss of James to an injury made it harder still, but Hastings dug in hard during every game.
Sadly, the team couldn't get on the scoreboard, losing 4-0 to Bognor, 4-0 Hayward's Heath and 3-0 to Brighton. Despite the scores, the performances were strong. Louie and George tackled everything, and carried well. Harry punched holes in the defence with his tough carrying, Henry and Noah showed off some hot stepping runs. Buster was a nuisance at the ruck, and Jacob, Oscar and Brodie all showed some great link play.
The team did get a very well deserved try in a 3-1 defeat to Horsham. Benji, dancing through the defence as he had done all day, and could not be denied a try this time. Not the results we wanted, but as the day went on the team showed real structure and made some crunching tackles. On to Eastbourne we go!
