The skies above Hastings & Bexhill RFC were lit up in spectacular fashion as families, players, members and friends of the club came together for our annual Fireworks Night.

With a huge crowd lining the pitch, the atmosphere built throughout the evening before another brilliant display sent rockets soaring above the rugby posts and brought plenty of colour, noise and excitement to the club.

But while the fireworks provided the spectacle, evenings like this simply don't happen without an enormous amount of work behind the scenes.

A massive thank you and well done to every single volunteer who gave up their time to make the evening possible.

From those arriving early to prepare the ground to those still working after everyone else had gone home, volunteers were involved in every part of the event.

Our thanks go to the car-parking team – with a special mention to Greyson and his precision use of parking lights! – the catering teams, sweet stall volunteers, bar staff, fireworks team, cleaning crew, and everyone else who helped with setting up, serving, organising, stewarding and clearing away.

With so many people coming through the gates, keeping everything running safely and smoothly was a huge operation, and the effort put in by volunteers across the club was outstanding.

The clubhouse was packed, the food and drink teams were kept busy throughout the evening and the touchlines were filled with families waiting for the main event.

Then it was over to the fireworks team. Against the backdrop of the rugby posts, the display filled the night sky and provided a fitting finale to another memorable community evening at Hastings & Bexhill RFC.

Events like Fireworks Night are an important reminder of what a grassroots rugby club is all about.

Hastings & Bexhill RFC is built not only on what happens on the pitch each weekend, but on the players, parents, coaches, supporters and volunteers who give their time to create a club and community for everyone to enjoy.
