Ever wanted to play at Twickenham?
Well, some of our H&B girls got the chance to do just that.
On Sunday, 9 girls from H&B represented the club at the Allianz Stadium edition of the Love Rugby series, with an all day festival at Twickenham to celebrate girls’ sport, friendship, and confidence.
The girls were split into teams ranging from Under 8s up to Under 11s and provided with a packed schedule to run throughout the day.
The Under 9s showed great teamwork at the start of the day in taking the Under 8s under their wing for the warm-ups.
Next came various skills sessions run by Ealing Trailfinders with internationally capped players taking on coaching duties for the day, followed by the incredible opportunity for a peak behind the scenes with a tunnel and changing room tour for all those participating in the event.
The weather was glorious and in the brilliant sunshine, the girls really shone, with some fabulous rugby on display.
The Under 8s had the opportunity to learn T1 rugby and picked up some great new skills which will help them progress from tag-rugby this season into contact when they return in September.
The Under 9s used their experience with contact this year to to put in an incredible shift, with every player taking opposition team members to ground in the tackle, running support lines for teammates, and scoring tries.
The energy remained high all day. Especially with our Under 11s who arguably had the biggest challenge in the heat with both rucking and scrummaging on the cards for them. The team took it in their stride, though, and used the opportunity to display their strength and power.
Massive congratulations to every player from H&B today. They truly showcased girls’ rugby at its best, with smiles and laughter included.
With plans for the Love Rugby series to return to Twickenham next year, we hope to take an even larger contingent from H&B in 2027. We can’t wait to see you there!
