The 2's travelled to Plumpton full of confidence after their start to the season and with a strong team. The squad saw the return of Max Foord-Paton, James Morris, Tucker White, Jack James and a new guy by the name of Tom Waring filling in at 15.
Unfortunately that confidence was quickly dented after conceding 2 tries in the first 10 mins. H&B rallied well and started to look better when going wide and going through hands. Their hard work was rewarded with a try from Harrison Millward fighting his way over the line. Plumpton scored again under the posts just before the half time. 19-5 at half time.
The 2nd half saw H&B look disjointed as they focused more on the perceived injustices against them rather than the game itself. There were flashes of potential when the ball went through hands but ultimately H&B were starved of ball by the much larger pack. Defensively we allowed Plumpton's big ball carriers to meet us at the gain line rather than meet them on our terms.
It would be a lie to say that we aren't disappointed with the result and the performance but it is now down to the squad to decide how they recover and move forward.
There was no vote for man of the match but my captain's man of the match goes to Harrison Millward who scored our only try and also shifted to the back row for the last 20 mins and put in tackle after tackle with the agression that at times we lacked today
