Hastings & Bexhill rugby club's captain Bruce Steadman and team-mate Dan Suggitt successfully relaunched the club's 7 a-side tournament on Saturday, July 27 - and then won it playing for the club's celebrated Sussex Seahorses team.
Ten teams - a mix of inter-club teams, local rival clubs and a London side, Old Allenyians, contested the competition In wet conditions, but in good spirit. Buckswood Legends topped their pool unbeaten, with Cinque Ports finishing runners up, while the Seahorses were unbeaten in the other pool, with The Prop Party led by veteran H&B prop Sauce McManus finishing 2nd.
Buckswood legends edged past Prop Party in one cup semi-final while Seahorses saw off a gutsy Cinque Ports in the other.
In an entertaining final, Seahorses ran out 22-17 winners against Buckswood Legends to add the cup to previous sevens titles at Blackheath, Beckenham, Burgess Hill and Egham. Old Alleynians won the Plate, The Oddball Barbarians winning the bowl
